Have you read Fritjof Nansen's description of the experience of riding on lceland ponies in his book "On skis across Greenland'? lf so, you can picture the way these small, yet strong horses carry you off in such an impressive way that is has to be experienced.

We can give you that experience! Our horses know the route back-to-front, whilst an experienced guide is there to lend a helping hand.

The trips last approximately 3-4 hours.

A massive rnountain peak rises high above the point at which Lysefjorden rneets Høgsfjorden on the Forsand side. It rneasures 440 metres at its highest point and offers a magnificent view.

You will be reqally impressed by what our Iceland ponies can do. After riding for a stretch along the road, where you get to know your horse, you leave the road and start to elimb a long, steep and stony hill. The forest is thick with larch, spruce, pine and birch trees. Once we get higher up the forest becomes less dense. The birches are fewer and the view breathtaking. Once at the top, you have a view looking out onto all sides and the guide will be able to fill you in on many interesting facts.

The descent affords just as rnany exciting experiences and challenges as the ascent, and provided that everyone is keen, the pace along the final stretch is slightly faster. Iceland ponies can actually pick up quite a speed!

Obviously it's an advantage to have a little horseriding experience, but it's not essential. Very many people make their debut on horseback on our trips. Some people find the first part of the trip slightly daunting, but that makes them feel all the better once they have completed the ride.

A little excitement is good for the soul ......
